The story of my trip around the world to train, teach and compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other grappling arts.

In San Francisco, looking for training tomorrow?

Arrived in Oakland, California last night, visiting my old friend from Denmark, Søren. Today, I probably need to rest, but if I can find a place to train tomorrow, I’ll go. Recommendations are appreciated, let me know! :)

Try Rocha’s gym in Oakland: 3645 Grand Ave. Heard good things about it.

Osiander’s gym (Ralph Gracie) in the UN Plaza area of San Francisco is full of higher level guys – but be warned about the long, long, intense warm-up. I rolled three days there in March when I was in town for a week.

For pure exploration purposes, Dave and Dan Camarillo over at AKA in San Jose would be nice. Dave’s a legend and innovative in combining BJJ with his own excellent judo. His brother doesn’t have quite the rep, but is also well known for his skills as well.

It’s a little bit of a drive, but Smash Gyms in Sunnyvale is new under the guidance of Michael Jen. Very technical instruction based on physics, and postural alignment. Techniques are looked into deeply. Give Rudy a ring and see if your schedule allows a visit. We would love to have you!
